Surrogate gay dads "euphoric" at third child
Gay.com UK

The UK's first openly gay
surrogate-baby parents are celebrating the birth of their
third child today.
Tony and Barrie Drewitt-Balow, who made history four years
ago when they fathered twins and were the first men to be
jointly listed on the birth certificate, are currently in
the USA, where their baby son Orlando was born by a
surrogate mother.
Orlando will be an addition to the family, which also
includes twins Saffron and Aspen.
The couple, who have been together for 15 years, used
techniques to father their children that are illegal in this
country.
It is reported they spent £200,000 on a sperm filtering
system, which ensures that any boys born are fathered by
Tony, and any girls are fathered by Barrie.
This means the twins are fathered by both men.
Both Tony and Barrie accept that the children may face
difficulties in the future over their parents.
“There will be incidents and we’d be fools to pretend
otherwise, but you face it. Every child is different or
feels that they are different. I felt different in my teens
because I was gay and hiding it, but you deal with it,"
Barrie told the local press.
“But the best thing is when the kids throw their arms around
you and say ‘Dad, I really love you,’ and they give you a
big kiss. It’s the most amazing, indescribable thing.”
The Drewitt-Barlows live in a £4 million farmhouse in
Arlington, near Macclesfield and the twins attend the same
school as Brooklyn Beckham.
It is also expected that the couple will now follow the
Beckhams to Spain, following the sale of their
dermatological product-testing business.
